Finally found a halal food truck in the Triangle: in Morrisville, NC to be precise, next to a Mobil gas station, JB Biryani, and a few other small businesses. The food truck wasn't very visible when we passed by Chapel Hill Rd., but thanks to Google Maps, we were able to locate this hidden gem, and it turned out to be one of our the best food discoveries in 2025. The first time we tried a halal food truck was in New York City back in August 2023, and the delicious lamb & chicken with rice surprised our taste buds. Since then, I'd been craving for a halal food truck in the Triangle area of NC, and my wish came true. Tasty Halal Eats captures the authentic halal flavors in its chicken & lamb combo, which comes with yellow rice, lettuce, tomatoes, green chiles, hot sauce & white sauce. I only ordered 1 $12+ chicken & lamb combo for me & my girl to share at home, and I wish I ordered more after we tasted it. The chicken & lamb meat were cut in small pieces & mixed well with the spiced rice & other ingredients to create a stunning halal experience. It was served in a small styrofoam takeout box, about the same size as the one we tried in NYC. When I went to order, the server named Mohamed asked to wait for them to cook fresh meat. I parked right across the Mobil gas station close to it, and I waited in the winter cold while I noticed other customers pick up food. They probably ordered by phone in advance. It's a food truck but I wish there were outdoor seats & tables outside. Tasty Halal is clearly made for a takeout experience. After 10 min. of waiting, my food was ready, and Mohamed asked if I want hot sauce, and I said, "Yes, please", to which he responded by pouring the hot sauce from a sauce bottle over my food. I asked how long they've been in business, and he said, a year. It's nice to see that Tasty Halal also does catering, as shown on its black food truck with flame designs. The menu looks clear with photos on the food truck, and they also serve non-halal foods like zinger chicken burger and chicken tenders. I paid in cash and left a tip in their jar. My girl & I devoured the 1 chicken & lamb combo, and I told her that we will order 2 next time, and trust me, there will be a bunch of next times. I also told my mom, whom we've experienced halal food in NYC with, about this food truck, so we will likely share an updated review with her reaction in the near future. I'm thankful that we no longer have to travel to NY to experience authentic halal street food. It's already here in the Triangle, NC.
Best chicken over rice in the Triangle area! Never had any bad experience. Service has also been good, not the best though. But that's fine as long as the quality of food is good & you are not rude to any customer. Will keep on coming back. Hope they also open a dine-in restaurant nearby.
So happy to finally have a halal cart place in RDU! This truck is located in the corner of a gas station across the street from the Morrisville Trader's Joe. There are no places to sit so it's grab and go. The service was quick and very friendly worker. I do wish that they had prices written on their menu. I had to ask the cashier to get the prices of each item. We ordered the combo lamb and chicken over rice and the chapli kabab platter. Both were really good and the portion sizes were decent. It's definitely not the same like the NY ones but it's still pretty good. Giving 4 stars because the white sauce didn't really have much flavor in comparison to the halal carts in NY. The hot sauce wasn't really that spicy either.
If you have been craving some good halal food look no further Tasty Halal Eats has you covered. The service is great. My only regret is not finding them sooner. Get the mixed chicken and lamb over rice with the white sauce. I love that they're open late too.
The halal food truck/cart is typically seen in bigger cities, so having Tasty Halal Eats is a pleasant addition to little ol' Morrisville. I must say that I was a bit skeptical because of its location, you can find this food truck just outside a corner lot gas station where there are a few too many pot holes around. However, once I gave this place a try, I was immediately hooked and I've been back on multiple occasions. I've ordered one thing from here and one thing only, the chicken and lamb combo. I can only say good things about this dish. The food is tasty, the portions are big, the prices are cheap, what more can you ask for? The lamb is basically small pieces of gyro chopped up and the chicken is reminiscent of tandoori chicken. Both meats are seasoned perfectly and tasty. It sits on a bed of rice and mixed in with peppers and onions. A salad is paired with everything else. In the end, they douse the dish with their white sauce, and can add their spicy sauce. I highly recommend the spicy sauce, even if you prefer less spicy. I've had the dish with and without the spicy sauce, and the kick is what brings the entire dish together. The food is fresh and easy to enjoy. When you get something right, you don't need to change anything up. I've found solace in knowing that the chicken and lamb combo will do the trick every time. Tasty Halal Eats' consistency with this item will make me a regular customer in the future!
WOW!!! I can't say enough about this Truck!!! I had the combo with chicken and lamb... with the white and hot sauce... DAMN!!! The rice and veggies perfectly cooked, and the meat was tender and delicious!!!! The sauce sent it over the top!!! I'm hard to impress and earn a 5 star review, but the food was just THAT good! The service was also impeccable!!! Decent samosas as well... I can't wait to go back and try a few things different. Shout out to the little store for the Pepsi and Coke products in GLASS BOTTLES from Mexico!! They just hit different!!! Reminded me of my childhood with the glass bottles. I can't wait to return to treat myself to more!
This was a tasty place to get takeout! It reminds me of a food truck that's awesome for a lunch break because it runs out of a food truck parked at a gas station with great food. For the price, I give it 5 stars because it is great value and I appreciate them offering to put the spicy sauce on the side because it has a kick to it! My partner got lamb over rice and said it was really good. I got the falafel over rice and their falafel was really good! They made them look like little burger patties and the texture kind of resembles a burger patty, but more falafel if that makes sense? We both agreed the food was good and the price was great, I think if their white sauce had more depth to it, it would make it perfect for me because all the flavors otherwise work well together! It was reasonable quick too!
If you love the halal food trucks in New York and Charlotte you'll be very happy to hear we have one here now. The classic combo (chicken and lamb) over rice is 11.99 and very delicious. The meat is seasoned well and he gives a great amount of white sauce and hot sauce if you want it. The food was priced well, hot, flavorful, and even tasted amazing later on. The truck is located at a gas station across from trader joe's in Morrisville and I was VERY surprised to no line here because the food was good and portions were big. The chicken kabob was good as well and if you don't eat meat there is falafel options! The man in the truck is extremely kind and quick with the orders.
A great addition to the area bringing a taste of new york halal carts to the triangle. While the flavors definitely lean towards south asian over Mediterranean, especially the rice, the dishes are all quite tasty and quantities are plentiful. The sauces could use some extra flavor, though it may be to prevent it being too spicy for some. Pricing is fair and service is friendly though it can take some time depending on the rush. No seating as it is a food truck, but the food is packaged quite nicely to walk and eat or just take it wherever you are headed. Would recommend, and will most likely be returning to grab some more.
This is a nice Halal food truck opened recently behind the Mobil gas station. They have a good variety of options, gyros, lamb or chicken over rice, kababs, burger, wings. They make a good attempt at bringing a taste of New York here in NC. Don't expect any sitting area, just grab your food and go. Sometimes the service can be a little slow depending on the time of day and the crowd. I had the chicken/lamb combo over rice (comes with a little bit of salad) Quantity was great! The lamb tasted nice, mild spices. And freshly cooked. The chicken was a bit heavy on the spices. The rice was cooked nicely, but also more seasoned than your traditional New York halal cart food. The red sauce was definitely not super spicy, and the white sauce was lacking flavor. Prices are a little on the higher side, but they make up for it with the quantity. I will be looking forward to trying other items on the menu. This is a great addition to the area!
